Men's Hoops: Around the Belt Week Ending Feb 6th, 2011

Around the Belt week ending Feb 6th, 2011…

• The Denver Pioneers are fifth in the nation in three-point shooting at 41.3 percent (184-of-447) this season and tied for seventh with a 55.7 adjusted field goal percentage.

• FAU’s win over FIU gave the Owls 10 conference wins for the season, tying for the most conference wins in a season since joining the Sun Belt. The Owls had 10 wins during the 2006-07 and 2009-10 seasons.

• FAU’s Brett Royster is 10 blocks away from breaking his own school record for blocks in a single season (90).

• Louisiana-Lafayette’s current five-game winning streak is the longest string of W’s for ULL since the 2005-06 season.

• Middle Tennessee’s Kerry Hammonds scored 28-points in the win over South Alabama, which included five treys, on his way to setting the school record for most points in a game by a freshman. The last Blue Raider freshman to score 23 or more points was Desmond Yates with 23 on Nov. 27, 2006 against Belmont.

• South Alabama’s Ronnie Arrow became the third coach in Sun Belt history to win 100 league games in USA’s 80-76 victory at WKU on Thursday, Feb. 3. He has compiled a 100-73 career SBC mark and needs three wins to tie Dickey Nutt for second place all-time in SBC history.
