Florida Atlantic (20-13, 7-5) is in the midst of a three game win streak, most recently knocking off UCF 3-2 in Boca Raton on Tuesday night.

The Owls will continue to be without starting first baseman Dan Scheffler and his hitting this weekend. Scheffler should be back in four weeks, which would be the UALR series. Florida Atlantic is 3-3 with him out of the starting line-up.

But Alex Hudak's league leading .432 batting average (7th nationally) is helping matters.  Hudak is currently tied for fourth in hits with 51.

On the mound, ace Paul Davis' 6-1 overall record is only bested by Troy's Tyler Ray (7-0), while R.J. Alvarez is third in K's with 8.36 per game. Ryan Garton has not recorded a victory in his last five starts.

Florida Atlantic will look to even the all time series, currently at 9-8 in favor of the War Hawks (17-14, 5-7), this weekend.

Head to head, the Owls enjoy advantages over ULM in runs allowed (-.81) and team batting (.299 to .284).

Notch game one for FAU!

The Owls scored their runs early, taking a 4-0 lead into the top of the third…Despite two FAU errors, ULM managed to pick up only one run later in the fifth. They had a chance at another before the turn at bat was complete, but got gunned down at the plate in a steal attempt to end the threat.

Starter pitcher Ryan Garton then went to work, retiring 8-of-9 straight before being relieved.

Later in the ninth, the War Hawks would bring the tying run to the plate. But Hugh Adams shut the door by enticing a fly ball to center field and inducing a double play to preserve the win.

Garton gets back on the win track scattering six hits over eight innings with five K's, and Adams picks up the save for Florida Atlantic.

Nick DelGuidice moved one step closer to the all-time doubles record, going 2-of-4 with three RBI to pace the offense.

FAU (21-13, 8-5) looks to lock up the series tomorrow.

Game two goes quick and lands the Owls' way as well 4-3; even though FAU spotted the Warhawks a 3-0 advantage after two innings.

Paul Davis pitches another gem giving up only two earned runs off of four hits in a complete game effort. The hurler struck out six.

Raymond Church was 2-of-5 with two RBI for Florida Atlantic (22-13, 9-5). Church connected on a two run shot to right in the fifth inning, has now hit safely in 16 straight games.

Game three will see its first pitch thrown at 12:00 p.m. tomorrow.

In another low scoring affair, FAU (23-13, 10-5) completed the sweep over the Warhawks 3-1 on Sunday.

Starter R.J. Alvarez found himself in back to back jams in the 2nd and 3rd innings facing bases loaded and no out situations. However he retired three straight each time to end the threats.

After stranding five runners themselves, FAU finally got on the board with a Nathan Pittman single in the fourth inning that brought in Sean Bukovich.

Florida Atlantic then looked to kick it into gear offensively in the sixth with back to back hits to begin the frame, which chased ULM starter Kendall Thamm from the hill.

However after Mike Albaladejo singled in Bukovich, Andy Mee would ground into a double play thereafter with two runners left on.

Mee took over in mid-relief for Alvarez (5 IP, 4H, 0R, 4K) in the bottom of the inning, allowing the War Hawks (17-17, 5-10) only run, before handing the ball to Hugh Adams to pitch the ninth.

Mike Spano hit his first homer of the year down the right field line to make it 3-1, and give the Owls an insurance run in the bottom of the 8th.

The Owls, winners of six straight, will travel to UCF for the second of mid week meetings between the squads for the 2011 slate.
