New Times: "Schnellenberger Retires... Four Years Too Late"

Howard Schnellenberger to Retire From Florida Atlantic -- Four Years Too Late - Fort Lauderdale and Palm Beach - News - The Daily Pulp

While most media outlets have used Schnellenberger's retirement announcement to reflect on his accomplishments and effect on college football, the New Times used it as an opportunity to throw in a few punches like:

"Truth is, Schnellenberger nearly brought prominence to a school once nicknamed "F-A-Who?" Instead, he stayed long enough to watch that moniker become relevant again."

Lol

What a joke…

No, not being a homer, that's just HORRIBLE journalism. Take a look at what the guy has done every where he has been (aside from a "never should have taken it" job at OU) before you go and write some pap and drivel like that.

The records accomplished at FAU alone speak volumes for the architect that the man is. And, we would be in no position to pass the torch for more hoped for greatness had it not been for him. No team, no Bowls, no Stadium.

For the sake of fairness…

About the author, Eric Barton, from his Face Book page:

"This was an Airstream trailer that was set up in the Design District during Art Basel. If you've never done acid, it gave you a pretty good idea what it's like."

What a clown! Seems like he's just pissed because Florida Southern College doesn't have a football team, let alone a coach…wait F-S-Who? See, not very original is it Burton.

Guys a jackwagon, which is probably why he's a blog writer for a free newspaper.  There's a reason that every major sports media outlet has written atleast one positive article on Howard since his announcement, respect. (Ok, maybe not every single outlet).  Hell, even Mike Bianci wrote a fairlly nice column about howard and FAU (including his signature digs of course).

The best part of the article are the couple comments at the bottom, even his 4 readers disagree with his piece.

FAU - We got Bowls!

Sometimes a persons retiring can open up a door for oppertunity and diversity in a program.
