Re: 2011 FAU Volleyball Schedule

Thursday marked the home opener for the FAU Volleyball team, who will be at FAU Arena just nine times out of a 30 match schedule for 2011.

However it would not result in celebration as the Owls dropped their fourth straight contest to Tulane in straight sets (27-25, 25-21, 25-20).

FAU had two chances to take the first set, and lead late in the second. each time the Green Wave rallied. The final set was tied four times before the visitor put away the match.

Sara Stoll had five kills and a career high eight blocks in the loss for the Owls, and Thacilli Pereira tied a match high nine kills.

Re: 2011 FAU Volleyball Schedule

The rough start to 2011 continued on Friday for Florida Atlantic, as the Owls lost two matches to drop to 0-6 on the season.

Pitt took match one in straight sets over FAU (25-18, 25-18, 25-16). Thacilli Pereira had five kills and 10 digs for the Owls in the loss.

The day's second match would be closer, going the full distance before FAU eventually dropped a five set marathon to UNC-Greensboro (19-25, 25-16, 25-16, 22-25, 15-12).

The Owls had an 8-4 lead in the fifth set, but could not withstand a Spartan rally.

Florida Atlantic will look for their first win tomorrow when they return to the court to face USF at 1:00 p.m.

Re: 2011 FAU Volleyball Schedule

Not to kick 'em while they're down but for informational purposes: pretty sure they were terrible last year too but FAU volleyball's one of those sports that could have a handful of losing seasons and nobody would really care but the people on the team. The fans wouldn't call for the coach to be fired and Angelos probably wouldn't fire him - think it's a him - and have to go through the arduous process of finding another coach (and possibly paying him more)
