Coach-in-waiting?

If we could do it again, should we have hired a coach in waiting?

Coach-in-waiting?

After watching the performance we saw today, do you think the right move would have been to name a coach-in-waiting this past off-season.

How are we suppose to recruit players to this program when Angelos has no idea who the head man is going to be come next fall? I get the whole "let Howard ring it in" but come one.

Re: Coach-in-waiting?

Well, the coach in waiting only works if it is someone the out-going coach knows or wants to work with.  If not, you get the situation like they had at WVU, where the whole thing blew up in their faces.  So, unless they were going to go out and hire someone like Gary Nord, it is better to just wait.  A coach the caliber of say, Mike Leach, wasn't going to come here to be anyone's coordinator for a year when he can stay in Key West and wait for a head job to open up.

This school is not getting Mike Leach. I would have been happy if we had took Nord or Randy Shannon as a coordinator and told the fans that the individual is the next head coach.

If your a casual fan what is your motive to go to next weeks game? To watch awful football?
