FINAL:

Troy 14  ASU 45

This one was a lot closer than the final score indicates, mostly due to the Trojans committing four turnovers. Nonetheless, the Red Wolves run the table in league play for the 2011 season. ASU QB Ryan Aplin goes 25-of-37 with 3 TD's on the day, while adding 35 yards by ground.

Wow, check that out, Troy, MTSU and FAU all whooped on (we lost by 26 and were the closest loss) today and BOTH Troy and MTSU kicked our asses really bad too. So we are so much the worst in the Belt it is unimaginable to me!

Re: Sun Belt Football: Games for Week of 12/03/2011

Sun Belt Players of the Week for Week Fourteen

Offensive

Lance Dunbar (North Texas, Sr., RB)

Dunbar set a North Texas and Sun Belt Conference single-game record with 313 yards rushing and had four touchdowns in a 59-7 win over Middle Tennessee. With the performance, Dunbar became North Texas’ all-time leading rusher with 4,224 yards. The 313 rushing yards was the best performance by any player in college football this season. He averaged 7.8 yards on 40 carries in the game, scoring touchdowns on runs of 26, 14, 1 and 5 yards. With the performance, Dunbar finished his career ranked third in career rushing yards in Sun Belt history and became the first North Texas back to have three 1,000-yard rushing seasons. He is the only back in Sun Belt history to have over 300 yards rushing in a game.

Defensive

Darryl Feemster (Arkansas State, Sr., DB)

Senior cornerback Darryl Feemster recorded nine tackles and three pass break-ups, both career highs, while also adding a 60-yard fumble return for a touchdown and posting his Sun Belt Conference-high fifth interception of the season during Arkansas State’s 45-14 victory over Troy. Feemster’s fumble return, the third longest in ASU history, swung the momentum in the Red Wolves’ favor early in the game by giving them a 10-0 lead. He is now ranked tied for 11th in the nation for interceptions and his nine tackles topped his previous best of five set against Virginia Tech earlier this year. Feemster has posted career-best numbers this season of 38 tackles, seven pass break-ups and five interceptions.

Special Teams

Don Jones (Arkansas State, Jr., DB)

Junior defensive back Don Jones returned a blocked punt for a touchdown during Arkansas State’s 45-17 victory over Troy. Jones’ return came early in the second quarter and gave the Red Wolves a 17-0 lead. It was the second time this season he returned a blocked punt for a touchdown, also taking one into the end zone against ULM. Jones finished with a career-high 10 tackles and his first career interception during the game as well.
