What: Florida Atlantic (6-1) vs Miami (7-0)
When: Wednesday, Feb. 29th at 6:00 PM
Where: Mark Light Field
Live audio and statistics at FAUSports.com
Projected Starting Pitchers:
FAU - RHP Jake Meiers (1-0, 1.04 ERA, 6 K, 1 BB in 2012)
UM - LHP Stephen Ewing (1-0, 0.00 ERA, 11 K, 2 BB in 2012)
Wednesday's contest will be the first of three regular season match-ups for the two squads in 2012. The Hurricanes come in at #8 nationally, while the Owls have been recognized with a 35th ranking by PerfectGame.com.
The Hurricanes lead the all-time series at 48-10, but lost to Florida Atlantic 7-4 in the last meeting in Coral Gables. The Owls took the 2011 regular season series 2-1.
With four jacks already in just seven games, RF Alex Hudak (.462 avg) has already eclipsed his 2011 home run total for the Owls. 2B/C Mike Albaladejo is making his mark as a senior leader as well posting a team best .536 avg and is yet to commit a fielding error for FAU who has just six collectively (1st SBC).
Florida Atlantic's offense was somewhat of a question mark going into the year, but has outperformed the competition 2.26:1 in run ratio through the first seven games. The Owls currently boast a league best .332 team batting average, and are third in ERA (3.14).
Miami swept Albany over the weekend to extend their perfect mark on the year. Senior C Peter O'Brien (5.19 avg) is pacing the offensive attack for the Hurricanes, who will also look to take a free base at times (8-of-11).
Pitchers for Wednesday will offer familiar faces on both sides of the field. Stephen Ewing (1-2) has started the last five games against the Owls for Miami, with Jake Meiers was taking the hill to start in two of Florida Atlantic's 2011 contests (1-1).
"They swept Alabama on the road, which is amazing", said Canes Head Coach Jim Morris of FAU. "I know we better be ready to play."

FAU 1 UM 8
On a side note:
Mike Albaladejo is hitting at a ridiculous pace.
He's already 2-of-3 tonight.
