Interesting.  They go after big names, I'll give FIU that. But can they win?

Re: Richard Pitino to FIU

I've had the chance to meet Coach Pitino before. He is a really good guy.

He has coached at…Northeastern, Louisville, Florida, Louisville. Might have been somewhere before Northeastern but I can't remember.

Re: Richard Pitino to FIU

His name has star power so it will help them recruit. Doesn't mean they'll win as Isaiah Thomas also had a big name.  We'll see. If he has even minimal success, he won't stick around long - then again, what coach does stick around after winning in the 'Belt?

I've heard he will bring Mark Lieberman with him. Lieberman is the current DOBO at Louisville, and was previously the HC at Monsignor Pace HS in Miami.

That's a recruiting advantage with Lieberman from Miami.

I wonder if those players that protested Zeek's firing still want to leave FIU now that Pitino Jr. is there?

Never been the head coach at this level so we'll find out if he is a good head coach.

Well, his father is…nobody has any clue how good this guy is.  Although I'd venture to say he's got to be better then former coach…
