Re: FAU and the 2012 MLB Draft

MLB.com has Alvarez tabbed 73rd:

R.J. Alvarez, RHP, Florida Atlantic: With a bulldog mentality and a body type to match, Alvarez plays the part of a short reliever very well. Even if Alvarez isn't racking up saves, he could have value as a setup man, with velocity and mound presence that are too much for teams to ignore on Tuesday.

Plenty of talent remains in Day 2 of Draft

Congrats to R.J. and good luck pursuing his dream!

Now, normally I don't give two sh*ts about baseball but I read that the first round pick was a 17-year-old Puerto Rican high school kid who will be offered $7.2M.

Not sure it's a good idea to give a 17-year-old kid that much money.

RJ's looking at 400K plus according to the anticipated slot value for #114…not too shabby…….

If he stays healthy and performs the way he is capable of, he will be very successful. He is a good kid that really works hard.
