FAU Coach Kellie Lewis-Jay has announced that Shanequa Schrouder of Daytona State College will join the Owls for the 2012-13 season.

Schrouder, a 5-foot-11 guard from Apopka, earned first-team All-Mid Florida Conference honors after averaging 12.2 points and 5.5 rebounds this past season, and was a two-time selection to the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region VIII team.

“Shanequa is versatile on both sides of the ball", said Lewis-Jay.  "She can get to the basket, can shoot and she has the ability to defend both the perimeter and the block. These are skills which will make her extremely valuable what we’re going to do as a team.  She should make an immediate impact for us.”

Nice to see Coach out working hard. Sometimes a change is the best thing you can do. All a young coach wants to do is succeed.

And another!

Ashley Stevenson, a 5-9 guard from Moberly Area Community College in Missouri.

“Ashley is one of the best rebounding guards I have seen, and we are excited to have her join our program,” stated FAU Coach Kellie Lewis-Jay. “Not only does she get the rebounds, but she keeps countless possessions alive by making plays.  Ashley is a multi-dimensional guard, an athlete who can get to the rim and knock down the perimeter shot.  She is exactly the kind of player we are looking for defensively, taking great pride in putting pressure on the opposing team. She will play a big role in our defensive system.”

Stevenson averaged 12.6 points and seven rebounds per game last season at Moberly Area.
