My company was able to acquire the first and original Red FAU basketball uniforms. We sold them and gave the money to the program. When we first received them, I wanted to get the ball rolling with the sales, so I purchased the first one and donated the money. Soon after almost every one sold (except the really large ones). The one I purchased was the #1 of Shavar Richardson.
Last November we did a fundraiser and had some of the uniforms on display. Several sold that evening. Shavar was there and came up to me and was genuinely disappointed his sold because he wanted it some day.
I told him I was the person who had purchased it. I then told him I could not give it to him because that would be a violation. I handed him my business card and told him that when he graduates to give me a call and I would give him the uniform. That was over 9 months ago.
This morning I received a call. On the other end I hear: Sir, this is Shavar Richardson. I graduated yesterday.
I cannot tell you how proud I felt at that moment…like he was my own kid graduating.
Shavar and I are meeting up tomorrow and he will have his uniform.
Congratulations, Shavar! Well done.

I'm going to see if Brett Royster wants his! ;D
I'm happy to buy a jersey EVERY year and if I have one of a graduating senior, gift it back to them after their time in college is up.
Very very cool of you fauowl!

I have Avery Holley's jersey. It's hanging in my closet right now which means it's getting used about as much as it did when he was on the team
Ha ha…I have Monroe's!

I thought I would share a story because we usually don't get to hear about a lot of the players once their eligibility ends…

That is a great story Mark! Shavar really cherished his time playing for the Owls.
