We'll done to those that thought it up and stuck to it. What once seemed silly to many is now our symbol for Owl Pride on a national level.
GO OWLS!
P.S. Can anyone make one of those "text symbols" for Owl Fingers?
I have come here to chew bubble gum and kick @$$ and I'm out of bubble gum.

not 100% sure, BUT I think it was Smitty who came up with that. Again, not positive and if it wasn't don't want to take credit away from the person or persons who did think of it
My two favorite teams are FAU, and who ever is beating FIU!

Dont want to give or take credit away from the correct people.
Whoever did it, its made an impact. It is OUR identifying symbol and dare I say could be as iconic as the hook em horns.
It is unique in college football IMHO and that is a rare thing considering that Temple and Rice both have owls as thier mascot.

I'm a fan of the Owl Fingers but we're not the only ones who do it. For instance, Stony Brook does it.
I saw some basketball fans do it too, can't remember the team - but it wasn't us (or Stony Brook).
Then there's this, which is similar.
The "Salute the Hoot" thing is more unique, I believe, but it's an Athletics idea, not a student idea, so who knows if it will ever replace the traditional Owl Fingers (which some people are still calling Owl Eyes)
As an aside, if you'd like to learn how to fingerspell FAU in sign language
ERROR: A link was posted here (img) but it appears to be a broken link.
Incidentally the "F" is the same symbol as the Owl Fingers
