As we wind down the 2012 regular season, the weekly contest count is following suite. Accordingly, there will be just four games on tap for Week Thirteen, with all taking place on Saturday, and no out of conference action slated.
After a thumping by ULM this past Saturday, the Mean Green will look to get back to winning ways when they play host to the Hilltoppers in Denton in the Sun Belt Network's Game of the Week. WKU must win to even consider the post season, even though that is not likely.
Once in the drivers seat for post season play themselves, the Trojans have gone 1-3 over the last four games, and that means quality time with the family for the holidays. Still, they would like to hand the Blue Raiders their first loss in three games. Unfortunately for them, emotions run high in Murfreesboro as MTSU was clipped by Troy 38-35 in 2011.
In the late afternoon slot, high octane signal caller Terrance Broadway and his Cajuns host the Jags. As +18 favorites, they are likely to make it two straight W's.
Rounding out the day's action, the Warhawks travel to Miami to take on the Panthers, who will be playing for pride.
Florida Atlantic and Arkansas State will enjoy byes.
Here's the full schedule:
November 24th
North Texas 24 Western Kentucky 25
Troy 21 Middle Tennessee 24
South Alabama 30 Louisiana-Lafayette 52
Louisiana-Monroe 23 Florida International 17 OT
Enjoy the games!

North Texas 24 Western Kentucky 25
After leading 24-10 heading into the fourth quarter, the Mean Green (4-8, 3-5) went scoreless in the final frame, and the Hilltoppers moved in for the win.
WKU (7-5, 4-4) netted a pair of TD's wrapped around a FG in the period - one of which was an interception ran back for the score. The other resulted off of Antonio Andrews' 21 yard end zone ending scamper.
Brandin Byrd rushed for 102 yards and a TD in the loss for UNT.

Troy 21 Middle Tennessee 24
The Trojans (5-7, 3-5) will definitely be home for the Holidays, having been eliminated from eligibility - not that it would have mattered anyways given the number of Sun Belt teams hitting the mark this season.
Troy actually lead with just over 9:00 minutes to play, but the Blue Raiders (8-3, 6-1) cashed in on a 77 yard interception return by Kevin Byard for the go ahead score.
Ironically, the Trojans enjoyed a 23-10 advantage in 1st downs en route to a healthy 472 yards total offense on the day.
The Sun Belt crown looms is up for grabs for MTSU next weekend against Arkansas State (8-3, 6-1) in Jonesboro.
Regardless the outcome, both should be bowling.

Louisiana-Monroe 23 Florida International 17 OT
Once again, the Panthers (3-9, 2-6) brought defense to the table, limiting the Warhawks (8-4, 6-2) to just 235 yards.
Unfortunately, they continued to leave the offense behind, falling in overtime.
Louisiana-Monroe took a Panther fumble back for a go ahead score late in the contest, but FIU answered with a Hail Mary at the end of regulation to force the extra period.
Special Teams play reigned large thereafter, as the Warhawks would block FIU's FG attempt in the first possession of the extra frame.
With that threat out of the way, they then scored on a 15 yard strike for the difference maker.
ULM QB Kolton Browning threw for 215 yards and one score on 31-of-38 attempts, while rushing for another.

South Alabama 30 Louisiana-Lafayette 52
The Cajuns (7-4, 5-2) used three quarterbacks, but made easy work of USA, romping for a 15.1 yard per catch average against the Jaguar secondary.
Amassing 362 yards through the air, WR Harry Peoples(2TD) was the benefactor of 166 of those on just five catches.
Kicker Michel Chapuseaux notched scores from 50, 45, and 33 yards out for USA (2-10, 1-7).
But the ground game suffered, gaining only 54 yards on 28 tries (1.93 YPC).

NEW ORLEANS – R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Officials today invited Louisiana-Lafayette to represent the Sun Belt Conference at the 12th annual game on Dec. 22nd at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome.
After being crowned champions of last year’s bowl, defeating San Diego State University 32-30 in a down to the wire thriller, the Ragin’ Cajuns have officially accepted the invitation to represent the Sun Belt Conference in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl for the second year in a row.
The invitation, officially made by Bowl Officials following Saturday’s victory over South Alabama, was accepted by Head Coach Mark Hudspeth and Director of Athletics Scott Farmer with great enthusiasm.
“We are thrilled that the Ragin’ Cajuns have accepted our invitation to represent the Sun Belt Conference for the second straight year,” said Bowl Chairman Ron Gardner. “Having a team from the state of Louisiana in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl just makes it all the more fun to showcase our wonderful state and city to other teams and visitors.”
“The Ragin’ Cajuns are a great fit to be the Sun Belt Conference representative in this year’s R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl,” said Sun Belt Conference Commissioner Karl Benson. “It is important for Sun Belt Conference teams to be able to play in postseason bowl games close to home where they can maximize ticket sales, lessen travel expenses and provide an opportunity for fans to attend the game.”
Hudspeth, in his second season in Lafayette, realizes the importance of keeping his team focused in the coming weeks, but also took some time to celebrate the team’s second straight bowl appearance. “I could not be prouder of this team. We’ve fought hard all season, and it’s nice to see all of that work pay off. Our players and fans couldn’t be happier to be going back to the Big Easy - let’s paint the town red, again.”
The Ragin’ Cajuns feature one of the Sun Belt’s most exciting offenses, led by sophomore quarterback Terrance Broadway. Broadway, who in September took over for 2011 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl Most Outstanding Player Blaine Gautier, entered Saturday having completed 65.7 percent of his passes for 2,053 yards and 13 touchdowns.
Wide receivers Harry Peoples and Darryl Surgent are Broadway’s favorite targets, each with more than 500 receiving yards. Alonzo Harris leads the running game with 634 yards and five touchdowns coming into Saturday, while Broadway had already rushed for 473 yards and six scores prior to Saturday’s game
On defense, linebacker Justin Anderson leads the Cajuns with over 80 tackles and free safety Rodney Gillis has a team-best four interceptions, which ranks second in the conference.
The Cajuns also have a strong kicking game behind the right foot of Brett Baer, who kicked the game-winning 50-yard field goal as time expired in last year’s R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. Baer leads the Sun Belt in scoring, field goals and punting average.
The Cajuns join North Texas, which played in the first four editions of the game as the Sun Belt’s representative, and Southern Miss (2004-05 and 2008-09) as the only schools to play in back-to-back R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowls.
The 2012 R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl will be played on Dec. 22 at 11 a.m. (CST) in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, and will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN Radio.

Sun Belt Football: Games for Week of November 24, 2012
ULL is 7-4, 5-2 tonight, is it not?
Whereas ASU is 8-3, 6-1
MTSU is 8-3, 5-1
ULM 8-4, 6-2
Or was ULL just invited because it's the closest campus to New Orleans? That must be it. I thought they had to take the best team in the SBC.
