FAU Athletics Launches Owl Scholarship Fund

Florida Atlantic University’s Department of Athletics has renamed its annual giving program as part of a refocused commitment to raise money for scholarship dollars and bring an increased emphasis on philanthropic giving. Moving forward, the Owl Club will now be known as the Owl Scholarship Fund (OSF).

“Successful fundraising is built on great people supporting a worthy cause and we need the support of our friends, alumni and community more than ever,” said Pat Chun, FAU’s director of athletics. “Our mission is to create a transformational experience for 450 student-athletes competing in 19 varsity sports. Life lessons learned from athletics complements the academic lessons taught in the classrooms. The Owl Scholarship Fund will help fund our mission.”

Each dollar donated to the OSF will fund scholarships which directly impact more than 450 student-athletes competing in 19 varsity sports.

“After listening to our fans, supporters and potential Owl Scholarship Fund members, it was important to rebrand, refocus and rename our annual fund to exemplify what we are truly here to do,” said Daniel Heflin, director of the Owl Scholarship Fund. “It is important for us to be clear and create a culture of giving towards student-athlete scholarships. “

OSF memberships begin at $50 and increase in levels based on the generosity of the OSF member. Members also receive exclusive benefits such as reserved priority football parking; access to GEO Group Stadium’s Delray Acura Club hospitality; and invitations to special events hosted by the athletic department.
