Game Notes:

The Owls hit the road after taking two games from Middle Tennessee State on Sunday to claim the weekend series. FAU was able to remain in a three-way tie atop the Sun Belt Conference standings with the performance, and will now look to improve their record in the midweek slate against an instate foe.

Central Florida has traditionally been an issue for FAU, but the Knights are struggling and have dropped seven of their last ten games. UCF was selected to finish fourth in Conference-USA, and justified that reasoning with a series win over #14 Rice last weekend.

FAU head coach John McCormack will hand the ball to Kyle Miller, after the freshman picked up his second career win last week. The right-hander has yet to give up a run this season, and has scattered just eight hits in 12 and two third innings of work.

Last Wednesday against Florida Gulf Coast, Miller struck out four batters in three quick innings before allowing a handful of other pitchers secure the shutout victory.  Miller will look to continue the solid start to his freshman campaign, against a UCF lineup that has hit 23 home runs this season.

The Knights are led by third baseman Chris Taladay, who is batting .365 and has managed a team-high 33 RBIs. Taladay is ridding a 15-game hit streak and ranks 22nd in the nation with 54 hits. Designated hitter Jeramy Matos leads the squad with eight home runs, and connected on a pair over the weekend.

The Knights will counter Miller with southpaw Brian Adkins. The senior will be making his 43rd career start, and eight of the season. Look for both clubs to get into the bullpen early, as Miller should be on a pitch count, and Adkins appears to be a plug-and-play type of situation.

Freshman Brendon Sanger continues to lead FAU with a .370 batting average, but saw his mark dip significantly after last weekend. However he is averaging nearly a run scored in each contest with an impressive 22 runs in 23 games this season. Sophomore Mitch Morales is hitting .349 with 20 RBIs and four doubles.

The Owls are 7-4 on the road this year, while UCF is just 2-8 in midweek games.
