Missouri TE Making a Trip:

Peculiar, Missouri is roughly 1,440 miles away from Boca Raton, but that isn’t stopping one prospect from attending Florida Atlantic’s Junior Day on Saturday.

Scotty Schaffner, a tight end from Raymore-Peculiar High School, will be making the trek across the country to workout in front of FAU’s coaching staff and tour the campus.

“I have heard Florida Atlantic has a beautiful campus in Boca Raton, and I really would like to see the campus and get close with the coach (Jeff) Sims and meet some of the players,” Schaffner said on Thursday.

It’s rare for an out-of-state recruit to visit FAU, but even more of an adventure for someone to travel from the Midwest just or a junior day.

FAU head coach Carl Pelini claimed earlier this week that he expects upwards of 600 recruits and their family members to be on hand Saturday, which would double the attendance from last year’s event.

Schaffner first got in contact with recruiting coordinator Jeff Sims through Facebook, and now he will try to land his first offer.

The tight end has participated in junior days at Missouri, Kansas and Oklahoma State and is getting interest from Northern Illinois and USF.

Standout Local LB Expected

Ft. Lauderdale LB Jaboree Williams will arguably be the top prospect in attendance on Saturday. Williams holds over ten offers including ones from Wake Forest, East Carolina and SMU.

Williams has been impressive on the camp circuit this spring and should continue to receive interest from schools over the next few months.

FAU is fortunate to have the prospect on campus, and needs to take advantage of the opportunity. Williams has the size (6’1” 210) to contribute right away at the next level.

Quarterbacks Galore

Saturday will give the Owls  a chance to see a talented group of quarterbacks workout in person. It’s often easy to evaluate prospects on film, but coaches like to see quarterbacks throw in drills.

Bishop Kenny QB John Wolford headlines the pack along with Miramar QB Nick Jeanty. Wolford has an offer FAU and decided to attend the junior day after receiving a hand written letter from offensive coordinator Brian Wright. Jeanty has been offered by UCF, and fits into a spread offense.

Joining the two will be Christ’s Church Academy QB Nic Duch and Countryside QB Robby Hicks.
