Projected Pitchers:
FAU - RHP Kyle Miller (3-0, 1.08 ERA)
Miami - RHP Javi Salas (4-4, 3.14 ERA)
Game Notes:
Florida Atlantic travels to Miami looking to claim the three-game annual series from the Hurricanes. The Owls were able to even out the series last month with a win in Coral Gables, and will be expecting a repeat performance on Wednesday night.
Head coach John McCormack will hand the ball to freshman Kyle Miller, who will be looking to rebound from the team’s two losses to Louisiana over the weekend. Miller has recorded back-to-back victories in the midweek slate with wins over Florida Gulf Coast and Central Florida.
The right-hander, who sports a team-best 1.08 ERA, has given up just two earned runs in nine appearances this season. He tossed a scoreless inning in relief earlier this year against the Hurricanes, and will rely upon his controlled pitches on Wednesday night.
Miami is coming off a series win over #12 Clemson, and will send Javi Salas to the mound. Salas, like Miller, is 2-0 in his last two midweek starts and has allowed just one earned run in his past 16 innings of work. FAU was able to take advantage of Salas last month and taxed the junior for three runs on seven hits.
Nathan Pittman, who is 3-for-8 this season against Miami, failed to extend his 11-game hit streak over the weekend, but has now safely reached base in 22 straight games. The leadoff man is hitting .323 on the year with nine doubles and 25 RBIs.
Chantz Mack leads the Hurricanes with a .299 batting average and has tallied a team-high 44 hits. Dale Carey is a dangerous baserunner and has 10 stolen bags to his name, but is hitting just .192 at the plate. Shortstop Brandon Lopez has committed a team-high eight errors.
Miami is 21-9 at home this season and has won six of their last eight games. FAU is 9-6 on the road this year, but a perfect 5-0 in road games played inside the state of Florida.
FAU closer Hugh Adams (12 saves, 1st SBC) was named to the NCBWA ‘Stopper of the Year’ Watch List on Thursday.

I mean give up three runs to UM, and that is your worst moment thus far?
Done deal.
