BUMP.

Hope some can still go tomorrow on behalf of the Nest and tell us everything they talked about… the meeting isn't going to be webcast :/

I punched up a quick PPT and sent it off to the Mayor. We'll see what (if anything) she does with it. Essentially I argued that developments should be mixed-use (retail on bottom, housing on top) and that the model we should use is College Avenue in Athens, GA

ERROR: A link was posted here (img) but it appears to be a broken link.

(and Franklin Street by UNC Chapel Hill would be good too)

In terms of questions, I just kinda want to know what the timetable for this might be, how they envision it, how they can prevent it from becoming University "Too Expensive For Students" Commons Part 2, do they understand the need for more nightlife for young people in Boca, do they realize that the lack of student housing nearby campus is what causes half the traffic on Glades, what's the status on the possibility of commuter rail along Dixie Highway (a proposed project) that could connect this University Blvd to Mizner Park…

Stuff like that.

If they have renderings or anything that'd be great to see too. Whatever would be cool for us to see/know about.

Maybe Fauowl will swing by with more details, but here's the surmise he shared:

Nothing major occured
Preliminary talks in summary
Both want 20th St expansion

No but in all honesty I didn't expect her to.

Looking forward to Fauowl's report, even if nothing major transpired. Good to hear both sides are on the same page about the idea.
