Game Notes:

As we approach the finish line to the 2013 regular season, the Owls bid farewell to the home slate while hosting the Knights on Tuesday. They arrive back in Boca Raton riding the momentum of winning three games straight , and snapping a three SBC series losing streak at the same time.

Playing a spoiler role during the Hilltoppers' senior day, the Owls kept their post season hopes alive with a clean sweep of Western Kentucky (7-2, 10-3, 12-6) over the weekend in Bowling Green. The 29 runs scored were the most by the squad in a three game set all season long.

Senior CF Nathan Pittman accounted for over 20% of that tally. Although only obtaining three hits, the speedy Pittman scrapped out six walks, and scored five times.

In similar fashion to this season's earlier meeting, Central Florida comes to Boca Raton having won only two of their last seven games. The Knights lost 2-of-3 over the weekend to Tulane (1-8, 9-15, 7-3), but got the win on Sunday when it counted most as six seniors saw their last contest at Jay Bergman Field.

One of those was pitcher Brian Adkins, who tossed five K's in six innings of work to earn the win. Adkins was the losing pitcher last time against FAU but will not be on the hill this time as the Knights will look to 6-7 lefty Eric Skolglund.

Ironically, UCF's Sunday win also saw all seven of its runs driven in by seniors as well. Continued team leader 3B Chris Taladay (.363, 3rd CUSA) went 6-of-14 with a double and 5RBI - four of which came in the finale. On the year, the talented infielder has cranked out a conference best 73 hits.

Central Florida was picked to finish 4th in Conference USA, and are ahead of expectations while currently in a tie for 3rd with Rice University. They will look for separation this weekend in their final league series against Eastern Carolina.
