Defensive graduate assistant Joe Fitzgerald has left the Florida Atlantic football program and accepted a position at Mississippi State. Fitzgerald, who had been with the Owls since 2009, completed his role as a graduate assistant and will take the next step in his coaching career.

Fitzgerald will be in a similar role at Mississippi State, but only on the offensive side of the ball. He had assisted with the Owl's defense last season, helping with opponent film breakdown and self-scouting. Fitzgerald had also interviewed at Texas A&M.
