BOEM Finalizes SNMREC EA and Issues FONSI | Southeast National Marine Renewable Energy Center"The press release should be out in a day or two, basically the Southeast National Marine Renewable Energy Center @FAU can move forward with testing.
The U.S. Department of Interior has released a final Environmental Assessment and Finding of No Significant Impact (FONSI) for the SNMREC's proposed small scale ocean current turbine test berths offshore Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. Not only does this milestone mark the first U.S. Outer Continental Shelf MHK EA, but it allows the SNMREC to move forward with the world's only offshore ocean current energy equipment testing capability.
