Week four is here already. There will be no midweek game for the period, and six contests kicking off before 12:30 pm in an early bird lovers dream.

Of note, the Owls open the 2013 home season against the Blue Raiders in a televised contest.

Contests against nationally ranked Georgia, Virginia Tech and Kansas are also on the docket.  North Texas will go between the hedges at No. 9 Georgia for the first time.  Regional rivals Marshall and Virginia Tech will battle in Blacksburg, Va., and Louisiana Tech will try and become the second C-USA team in a row to defeat Kansas, as the Bulldogs visit Lawrence, Kan.

The other two early games are FIU at No. 6 Louisville and Tulane at Syracuse.

The Battle for the Bayou Bucket will take place when Rice and Houston, separated by five miles, meet at Reliant Stadium for the second straight season.

In-state foes UTSA and UTEP will meet for the first time to end the day’s action:

The Bulldogs almost come out of the other Manhattan with a quality win. Looking at the stats, its hard to figure out why they didn't.

Another week of action, and another close game for the Hokies against a C-USA opponent.

Driving rain didn't help matters, and the Thundering Herd simply ran out of gas.

There's a little bit of controversy in Miami as Ron Turner apparently requested a running clock, then denied it.

FINAL:

Houston  31 Rice 26

The Owls set up a dramatic ending by taking a blocked field goal back for 62 yards with just over two minutes remaining. That set up a perfectly executed on sides kick.

Unfortunately, they missed a fourth down pass attempt, preventing the game winning march to the end zone for the win.
