Looking at the video....I didn't know that UAB had the same un-official mascot as FAU...the Seatback!

And lots more of em than FAU has too! Bama and Auburn used to play in there as a neutral site game every year for a LONG TIME! The Blazers are not of that level and sadly, UAB can't get the State to allow them to build something the size of our stadium, no matter how big and cold and empty and old that stadium gets in Birmingham.

The worst part is some UAB alum want to donate 100 mil cash to build a stadium it would have to be voted on by the Bama BOT.

In 2011 they were saying:

"UAB officials have proposed a plan to construct a $75 million on-campus stadium for the Blazer football team. The stadium design currently resembles a horseshoe, with 27,511 stadium seats and a designated lawn area in one endzone with seating for 2,500. In addition, there would be 33 luxury suites and 24 additional boxes. To move forward, UAB officials must determine how the project will be funded and then present their findings to the Board of Trustees…. If approved, the stadium will be slated for an opening in the 2014 season."

In the interim, "University of Alabama trustees had previously tabled the stadium proposal, citing a lack of attendance and support for the football program" (basically Alabama and Louisiana both try to block the smaller programs from getting anything going that would challenge the bigger programs) and the new UAB president, Ray Watts, would not specifically cite his support for the project. In July 2013 the President said the proposal was "not a top strategic priority for us.. because of the uncertainty of the federal budget and the implications of that for an institution like ours, we're going to hold off on any other major capital projects and use the resources we have to be as effective as possible,' he said."

Tough situation for them.

Make ya wonder how Alabama St. got their stadium built as it is now, not to bad and that stadium proposal for UAB is beautiful and would help them out immensely. I don't see how they can EVER hope to fill the current stadium even half way!
ZERO atmosphere so the home team Blazers get less emotioanl support to help them win home games and so they don't draw and so on and so on……
SUCKS that the Alabama BOT won't back that school!

Bama is just so greedy even though UAB would never really hurt them but they see it if UAB takes percent away from them it's too much.
