The Roadrunners have five players hitting better than .300, and are led by John Welbourn's impressive .457 mark (1st C-USA). The senior outfielder has amassed seven doubles (T 1st C-USA), two triples, and seven RBI through 13 games and has a .681 slugging percentage (1st C-USA).
UTSA is currently on a three game win streak having taken down South Dakota State on Sunday (8-5), and following that with single games against both Incarnate Word (10-4) and Texas Pan American (6-5).
Head to head, the Owls and Roadrunners compare nearly even. The Roadrunners hold a slight edge with a .304 batting average compared to a .290 mark for FAU, while the Owls have sported a 2.42 ERA, slightly lower than UTSA’s 2.49.
UTSA is 7-3 at Roadrunner Field on the year and the Owls enter the series with a 2-0 mark away from FAU Baseball Stadium.
Florida Atlantic is 6-0 in their most recent series, having not lost one since a 1-2 letdown against former Sun Belt opponent UALR in early May of 2013.
Weather for the weekend presently looks to be questionable. Friday night will host partly cloudy skies, but Saturday and Sunday could see rain with 40% and 60% chances respectively. Temperatures are expected to be low to mid 60's for the duration of playing time.
