After losing a game out of conference against the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles 1-0 on Wednesday, the FAU returns to conference play for a three game series to take on the Charlotte 49ers.

Near the bottom of the conference standings at eleventh place with 15 conference games left, the Owls will look to turn around a so far disappointing debut season in Conference USA by winning a series versus a program they haven't played in almost 30 years.

If they to want to win this inagural series, their bats will have to improve as they recorded three hits in their last outing. Wednesday's set back to FGCU was the squad's 11th one one run contest on the season.

Although their offense has been inconsistent, the Owls' pitching has been an asset all year. The Owls pitching staff has allowed the fewest walks in Conference USA and ranks sixth in team ERA at 2.93.

With Charlotte sitting in last place in Conference USA, this series provides the Owls a great opportunity to right the ship before taking on in-state rivals Miami and FIU next week.

The 49ers are in their second stint in Conference USA after spending several season in the Atlantic 10 Conference. Charlotte has won one conference game all year and will be aiming to win their first series.

Charlotte ranks near the bottom in every major hitting and pitching statistic in Conference USA. The catalyst for the 49ers offense this year has been Miami Dade transfer Mikal Hill. The junior infielder is batting .301 for the year while scoring 18 runs. Both lead the team.

The 49ers are 2-10 on the road this year and are coming off an out of conference loss to Winthrop. The Owls come into the weekend with a 12-7 mark at home.

Weather for the series looks good with a 20 percent chance of rain on Friday, 0 percent chance of rain on Saturday, and 10 percent chance of rain on Sunday.
