Outlook: The Owls will look to carry over some positive momentum from the end of last season, but a coaching change always causes some flux. FAU must replicate its defensive performance from last season in order to match its six wins from 2013, and it will have a tough challenge maintaining confidence early in the season with games at Nebraska and Alabama.

Offensive coordinator Brian Wright took over as FAU’s head coach with four games remaining last season and led the team to four wins and bowl eligibility for the first time since 2008. Wright was passed over for the permanent head coaching job but remained at FAU and will be the Owls’ offensive coordinator for a third year. The continuity should be evident in 2014.

FAU may not match up with Nebraska and Alabama in terms of total talent, but they have enough weapons to keep things interesting. Sophomore running back Jay Warren showed big play ability, and with Jonathan Wallace gone, he’ll battle Tony Moore for the spotlight.
