Five C-USA games and one non-conference matchup comprise this week’s schedule.
In-state rivals North Texas (0-3, 2-5) and Rice (1-1, 3-3) meet in Houston to open the day’s action. The Mean Green were the only C-USA team to defeat the Owls last season.
No. 22 Marshall (3-0, 7-0) returns home to host Florida Atlantic (2-1, 3-4), a team that it defeated in the final seconds last season in Boca Raton, on Fox Sports 1 at 3:30 PM. Herd QB Rakeem Cato and Owls QB Jaquez Johnson are both dual threat signal-callers leading offenses that have shown great balance.
Louisiana Tech (3-0, 4-3) and Southern Miss (1-2, 3-4) will renew one of the longest rivalries among C-USA schools. Behind Kenneth Dixon’s strong running, the Bulldogs sit atop the West Division standings at 3-0, but Golden Eagles QB Nick Mullens has USM’s offense coming on strong, having thrown for more than 700 yards in the last two games.
A couple of teams with record-setting quarterbacks and high-powered offenses meet when Old Dominion (1-3, 3-4) makes its first visit to WKU (0-3, 2-4). ODU’s Taylor Heinicke leads all active FBS players in passing yards, while Hilltoppers QB Brandon Doughty has topped the 300-yard mark in five of six outings this season.
An emerging West Division rivalry will be renewed when UTEP (1-1, 3-3) visits UTSA (1-2, 2-5). The Miners have been strong in running the ball and controlling the clock as they prepare for a Roadrunners squad that is second in C-USA in rushing defense.
UAB (2-2, 4-3) will play its final non-conference game when they visit Arkansas. Blazers RB Jordan Howard is third in C-USA in rushing, averaging 107 yards per game.

We're not sure our QB will be able to play. Going to be rough to start a backup at Arkansas.Posted On: Oct 21st 2014, 4:02 PM #336847

The trap play proved the Owls (3-5, 2-2) Achilles heel as Devon Johnson use it to reel off most of his school record 272 yards on the day.
Rakeem Cato had his issues with overthrowing for the Herd (8-0, 4-0), but managed to connect when it counted most.
Lucky Whitehead hauled in 102 yards receiving for FAU.
