FAU men's soccer was defeated by Old Dominion 2-1 on Saturday night, marking the fifth match on the year decided by a goal or less.

The Monarchs (5-4-1, 1-1-1) netted scores in the 7th and 34th minutes of the first half for a 2-0 lead.

Ryan Price's team leading 6th goal on the season, which came off a successful penalty kick just over 10 minutes into the second period, narrowed the margin for the Owls.

However that would be all that Florida Atlantic (1-7-2, 1-2-1) could muster offensively.

The Owls were outpaced in total shots 8-12, but tied in those on goal at four a piece. Deniz Bozkurt led their attack with four attempts overall.

The team will next face-off against South Carolina, who will pay a visit on Friday, October 17th at 8:30 PM.

The Gamecocks' comeback started when sophomore Eli Dent headed home a goal in the 61st minute. Mikkel Knudsen then scored twice in the final 15 minutes of regulation to even the match at 3-3.

Mahamoudou Kaba's strike in the extra frame proved the difference on the night.

South Carolina (7-6, 2-3) took more shots (15-9) and corner kicks (6-4) in the contest.

The Owls lost to Florida Gulf Coast 1-0 on Tuesday night in Fort Myers.

FAU (1-9-2) was outshot 12-3 for the evening although all of their efforts were on target.  Elijah McDonald, Kevin Byrne, and Ryan Price each registered attempts.

The match remained tied through the first half, but Henry Penagos's third goal of the season off a penalty kick in the 56th minute provided the FGCU (5-5-3) just the amount of offense needed for the win.

The loss snaps a four game win streak for the Owls against the Eagles.

Florida Atlantic will have a full week off before next heading south to battle conference rival FIU in Miami on Wednesday, October 29th. Match time is 7:30 PM.
