Junior transfer Ali Gorell's career-high 30 points propelled FAU past Cleveland State 79-74 on Friday night in The Burrow.

The Owls shot a robust 50.9% from the floor overall and were 37.5% (6-of-16) from behind the arc. However perhaps most importantly, they were 15-of-19 at the line, compared to just 10-of-20 for the visiting Lady Vikings (1-2).

Florida Atlantic led 40-37 at the break and would not trail until the 17:18 mark of the second period.

The teams traded baskets thereafter, as the lead exchanged hands five times before the Owls seized control for good behind Morgan Robinson's three pointer with 7:19 remaining.

FAU (2-1) enjoyed a 39-34 edge in rebounds, and was paced Melinda Meyers (11). Morgan Robinson pitched in 17 points off of 7-of-18 shooting to compliment Gorell's stellar outing.

The squad will next face Western Illinois at home on Sunday at 2:00 PM.

It was a great game!  I have said it several times…the women's basketball program is worth your time!  Down 17 and never quitting.  It was a lot of fun.  Many members of the football team were there, and they were jumping up and down and going crazy.  It was good to see.  Go Lady Owls!
