The Daniel Parr Situation

Monday afternoon Matt Porter of the Palm Beach Post reported that Parr – a three-star quarterback and FAU commit – was taking an unofficial visit to Miami.
The visit was nothing out of the norm. It was a local kid exploring his options. But that’s where things are beginning to drift into a gray area.
Miami is trying to flip Parr following Dwayne Lawson’s decommitment last week, but Parr has already signed a financial-aid agreement with FAU and is set to enroll at the school on January 5th.
That agreement –however– is non-binding. It grants FAU coaches unlimited access to Parr during the dead period (which is critical with Miami now in the picture) but Parr could also sign a financial-aid agreement with Miami, and the Hurricanes’ coaches would get the same access.
That would create a high-risk situation for everybody involved.
The NCAA doesn’t limit how many schools a prospective student athlete can sign financial-aid agreements (or FAAs) with, but does say that if a school recruits a player using the benefits gained by an FAA and doesn’t sign that player, they then run the risk of violating recruiting rules.
So what does that mean?
If Parr inks a FAA with Miami in the coming days, and both schools keep recruiting him using the unlimited contact gained by the FAA, whichever school Parr doesn’t enroll at will have committed recruiting violations during the dead period.
In the words of the NCAA:
“As a part of its April meeting, Division I Legislative Council members decided that schools may continue to recruit with relaxed recruiting rules prospects who sign financial aid agreements for mid-year enrollment. But if that prospect does not enroll at the school, the school will be considered in violation of recruiting rules.”
FAU has already gone all in on Parr. Coach Charlie Partridge announced the FAA signing at a banquet and the coaches have tweeted publiclywith him, even during the dead period (which runs from December 15 to January 14).
Dwyer High coach Jack Daniels – Parr’s coach – did not return calls, so it’s not clear if Miami is pushing Parr to sign an FAA.
Porter later tweeted that Miami’s coaching staff was on the road, meaning Parr was on campus by himself. A face-to-face meeting could have occurred with someone on staff, but Parr would have had to have signed an FAA, or that would have been a violation.
For now, it appears that FAU has the upper hand with the unlimited contact, but that can change with a simple signature, which would then create a losing outcome for someone.

We know you are rooting against Charlie. So get your # tag ready. You are such a dope. I got news for you, we will lose recruits, like every school does. I think I read in Andrews story that UM lost a recruit and now they are pushing for Parr. Keep rooting for that guy who is so good that not only FAU has ignored him in their last two coaching searches, but every Division 1 school in the country.

Basically every time you post is negative, so it would indicate you are rooting against him. Also, #Fired Charlie might say you are not a fan of his. Actually, you saying you like Charlie is the most positive thing you have ever posted. Fine to be skeptical, but you should realize that Charlie has nothing to do with the past 5 years. No ties to Howard or Coke Head. I know you are tired of the patience mantra, and yes some first year coaches have immediate success, but you honestly can't judge him until year 3. Just because you are hysterical still doesn't change that this is the 4th coach in 4 years. And lets say Parr does flip, I don't think so, if he looks at his chance to start in 2 years, this class is still the best recruiting class that FAU has ever had. So, no, there won't be egg on Charlie's face, actually his star will be a little brighter because he is building a real foundation that this program has never had. So chill out, you are tiring to everyone.

Seems like the only one who should be in that position are the 2nd and 3rd… schools who offer and allow him to sign even though THEY KNOW he has committed and signed elsewhere already!
I also don't think that will happen here with Daniel but man the NCAA has some screwed up rules and ethics.
To me, once a kid makes a public verbal commitment, than no other schools should be allowed to further recruit or entice him unless he again makes a public decommitment announcement, thereby reopening his recruitment.
About time we as adults (yes, you to NCAA) go back to teaching a contract is a contract (yes, you too NCAA Coaches and schools) and your word is your word. It is called honesty, and integrity, and ethics, and doing the right thing!
