FAU assistant coach Charlemagne Gibbons said FAU was simply outplayed, especially close in.
"They did a better job down the stretch and executing," Gibbons said. "We got out-rebounded and they were better from the free-throw line as well."
Marquan Botley's poor shooting (2 points, 1-of-12 shooting FGs with no 3-pointers) was the major problem for the Owls, Gibbons said.
"We've got to do a better job to get into the scoring area. We were too far away from the basket to enable him to make the shots he is capable of making," Gibbons said.
Gibbons said C.J. Turman's early foul troubles - he had played about 5 minutes until late in the game - caused Kelvin Penn to play too much.
"We've got to be able to get the ball inside and make more from the three line," he said.
