Game Notes
Florida Atlantic became the third C-USA school to break into the national rankings in the first three weeks of the season, appearing at No. 30 in this week’s NCBWA poll.
The Owls join Rice, which is ranked as high as No. 11 in this week’s rankings, as the current C-USA teams in the national polls. FAU claimed two of their three meetings against Ohio State.
FAU is hitting .287 as a team, but that is influenced by C Kevin Abraham's 0-of-18 mark at the plate. Third baseman Ricky Santiago leads the team with eight RBI, followed by 1B Brett Lashley's five.
The No. 2 Gators (6-1) begin a four-game week as well after downing No. 8 Miami in its weekend series, also winning twice.
Florida's starter, sophomore RHP Brett Morales, retired all 18 USF hitters he faced last Wednesday night and registered a career-high seven strikeouts on 70 pitches.
Tuesday’s game will be played at Roger Dean Stadium, the spring training home of the Miami Marlins and the St. Louis Cardinals.
UF: 2b Guthrie, CF Reed, SS Martin, LF Bader, C Schwarz, DH Rivera, 3b Tobius, 1b Sternagel, RF Larson. RHP Morales gets the start for the Gators.
FAU: 2b Kerr, 1b Lashley, RF Sanger, 3b Santiago, CF Rollins, DH Puerta, C Abraham, SS Chatham, LF Dicks. LHP Rhodes toes the rubber for the Owls.
