FINAL: Monmouth 0 FAU 9
Coming into the weekend, the Owls had only one long ball for the entire season.
However, that quickly changed in the final game of the series against Monmouth, as FAU's outfielders found the sweet spot and Florida Atlantic completed the sweep over the Hawks (0-6) with an 9-0 win.
All in all, the Owls posted 11 extra base hits for the tilt, including six doubles, two triples, and the three home runs.
RF Brendon Sanger added a 2 RBI shot early on in the Owls' first at bat to give the team a 2-0 lead before the they added another pair in the fourth off three hits and a Monmouth error.
LF Christian Dicks, who went 6-10 with 8 RBI with a team high 14 total bases over the three games, had his first homer in the 6th (solo) and would add another in the 8th (3 RBI) behind PH Billy Endris' groundout RBI for the final run tally.
Starter Robbie Coursel earned his first win, tossing five innings while allowing only five hits and striking out six batters. The Hawks were shut out the rest of the way as the trio of John Sebelle, Seth McGarry, and Mark Nowatnick each threw a frame and fanned four of their 10 Hawks faced.
Monmouth's Anthony Ciavarella (0-2) was tagged with the loss, giving up seven hits and four runs in four innings of action on the mound.
Including the 7-0 finish in game two against Ohio State back on February 21st, FAU (9-2) has now posted three shut outs for the year.
"The guys played fantastic,” FAU Head Coach John McCormack said. “Drew [Jackson] gave us a chance to win (the first game on Sunday) and Robbie continued that in the second game and Christian was fabulous.”
FAU will next host North Florida for a two game mid week series beginning Tuesday at 6:30 PM.
