Notes

The Owls won two-of-three games at Southern Miss over the weekend, posting double-digit hits twice against the best statistical pitching staff in Conference USA in the process. Sophomore SS CJ Chatham drove in six runs and scored four times for the week.

Adding to their impressive numbers, FAU has now outscored opponents by 135 runs (305-170) on the season, has 122 extra-base hits, and has drawn 216 walks.

Wednesday's series deciding game three against Miami was postponed due to rain. However, it never came. Regardless, the Owls will now have to wait until late in the season to decide bragging rights against the Top 10 foe - something which is sure to factor in to post season jockeying.

The mound lineup will likely not change for Florida Atlantic this weekend, as normal Saturday hurler Drew Jackson is officially listed as "doubtful", and continues to rest a case of dead arm. Rhodes was scheduled to go about two innings against the Hurricanes, and still remains in the Sunday spot.

Old Dominion knocked off Richmond 11-5 in their midweek action on Wednesday. Senior outfielder Josh Eldridge wwent 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI, while a red hot Nick Walker added 3 hits and 3 RBI.

The Monarchs dropped two-of-three games against Marshall over the weekend (1-6, 1-5, 6-2), but Walker had a career best 4-for-4 day Sunday with three RBI, including his team-best fifth home run of the season. He was 5-for-10 (.500) in the series with two doubles, a homer and three RBI.

Sophomore LHP Adam Bainbridge tossed a complete game three-hitter over Marshall in that win. Bainbridge gave up the two runs and three hits in the first inning and only allowed one batter to reach base the rest of the way. He retired 19 straight batters at one point and then retired the final seven batters for his first collegiate complete game. Bainbridge fanned six with no walks for his third straight win.

Through three home C-USA series', senior infielder Taylor Ostrich is batting .429 (15-for-35) with five multiple-hit games.

The weekend should present more favorable conditions for play than last. Rain is expected in the afternoon on Friday but should clear out prior to first pitch at 6:30 PM, and Saturday and Sunday offer only slight chances of precipitation but rising temperatures.
