As usual FAU has some players worth keeping an eye on, with some of this year's likely candidates including three pitchers, and three fielders.

Pitchers

RHP Seth McGarry - Possesses a fastball that has been clocked as high as 97 MPH and consistently touches 95 MPH. Struck out 35 batters in 40 innings of action this season, while posting a mark of 4-1 with five saves. Projection: Possible Top 10 Rounds.

RHP Drew Jackson - Posted a 2.44 ERA as the Owls' eventual ace this season. Struck out a career high 12 batters against UAB in the C-USA Tournament. Held opponents to a .215 average overall. Named to All Conference USA Second Team. Projection: Possible late round selection.

Fielders

OF Brendon Sanger - Posted a .370 AVG at the plate, ranking him 40th nationally as of June 7th. On base percentage of 49.2% was 10th in the country. Belted out a team best 85 hits for the year.  Received 2015 Conference USA Player of the Year honors, and was named Third Team All American. Projection: Possible Top 10 Rounds.

IF Ricky Santiago - Rebounded from open heart surgery after junior year to co-lead the Owls in both homers (8) and doubles (22) in his senior season.  Was second on the squad with 52 RBI. Named Third Team All American as well as All Conference USA Second Team. Projection: Possible late round selection.

OF Roman Collins - Fielding mark of 98.8% tied for best on the team.  Started all 61 games for FAU in 2015. Notched a grand slam against South Florida in the Ganesville Regional to propel the Owls' deeper into tournament action. Named to All Conference USA Second Team. Projection: Possible mid to late round selection.

Austin smith, our top recruit, just got drafted 51st overall. Needless to say, he will not be making it to FAU. But congrats to him that's incredible.

Yeah, to be selfish, was hoping somehow he would fall a little bit.  :Big-Grin:

But that is simply too much to turn up, and a 94 MPH fastball will catch the attention of others quickly.

Although, was speaking to MLBBoca yesterday he has tracked the fact that only two guys who have been drafted out of high school since 2010 have made it to The Bigs - something else to consider.

Not saying coming to college would have a significant impact on that stat or player development, but would offer more of a transition if you will.

The rules of NCAA Baseball make it difficult for a small school like FAU to have a winning program. Having your best players drafted after their third year. Watching a big recruit get drafted early. This is why I give Coach Mac so much credit. He has managed to keep FAU competitive against the big boys. Yes, they play by the same rules, but they also have their big names and big money to help them out. This years draft hit us hard. Coach has his work cut out for him.
