Milwaukee 67 FAU 71
The Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team improved to 3-0 on the young season with a 71-67 victory over Milwaukee on Tuesday.
The Owls were led by Ali Gorrell’s 20 points and eight rebounds while Danneal Ford tallied 11 points. Raven Doyle scored a career-high nine while Ra’Kyra Gabriel and Melinda Myers each grabbed eight boards.
Four different Owls scored to start the contest to give FAU an 8-3 lead just three minutes into the contest before a 7-0 run by Milwaukee (1-1) gave the Panthers their first lead at the 5:16 mark of the first quarter.
After three lead changes in a first quarter, Milwaukee extended its 22-21 lead to 26-21 early in the second. The Owls rallied back to take a 34-31 lead on a three-pointer by Gabriel and led by as many as six before a late jumper cut the lead to 39-35 at the half.
The third quarter featured four lead changes and two ties, but FAU held on to a 52-50 lead into the fourth before the Panthers tied the contest just 24 seconds in.
A 7-0 run, capped off by two free throws by Doyle, gave FAU its largest lead of the night at 61-54 with 6:01 to play.
Milwaukee would cut the advantage down to two points four times before a pair of free throws by Ford with two seconds left iced the game for the Owls.
FAU remains at home to host the FAU Thanksgiving Tournament, starting with a noon tipoff against Delaware State on Friday, Nov. 27.

South Dakota 76 FAU 53
Florida Atlantic lost their first game of the season on Saturday afternoon in the Burrow.
FAU (4-1) struggled to connect in the first half, combining for just a 5-of-27 (18.5%) showing from the floor, and found themselves in the hole 33-15.
That would be too much to overcome in the end, with the Owls getting no closer than a 54-40 deficit with :58 remaining in the 3rd quarter courtesy of a Morgan Robinson lay-up.
South Dakota (3-3) cashed in behind a 40-12 scoring advantage in the paint, which was aided by a 61-31 overall edge in rebounding.
The Owls saw three players reach double-digit scoring, paced by Ali Gorrell with 12. Malia Kency and Morgan Robinson each scored ten while Melinda Myers once more led FAU with eight rebounds.
The team will be off until facing Keiser on December 6th at 2:00 PM to conclude a four game home stand.

The Wildcats (8-1) shot a season-high 54.9 percent (39-of-71) from the field while Florida Atlantic turned in a 20-of-66 (30.3%) performance.
