The Owls dropped thier fourth contest in a row tonight, as the Miners posted a 52-32 advantage in points in the paint and 28-6 edge in fast break points.
FAU led the entire first half by as many as 12 points until a UTEP (15-1, 6-0 C-USA) lay-up with just under a minute remaining tied the contest at 37-37.
A big third quarter (24-13) sealed the victory for the visitors.
Ali Gorrell paced Florida Atlantic (10-7, 2-4 C-USA) with 20 points and 12 rebounds.

The Owls (11-7, 3-4 C-USA) outshot thier way to a 64-51 victory on Saturday afternoon in Boca Raton; effectively ending a four game slide dating back to January 9th against Western Kentucky.
Four players were in double figures for FAU, including Ali Gorrell (14 PT, 11 RB), Kat Wright (13 PT), Morgan Robinson (12 PT), and Malia Kency (11 PT).
FAU held the visiting Roadrunners to just 27.9% from the floor for the contest, and created 19 turnovers.

Second worse loss on the season for the Owls, aside from 102-53 set back at Kansas.
A 29-0 run in the first half by the Monarchs was the culprit for FAU, who shot just 23.1% from the floor for the game.
Ali Gorrell and Kat Wright each posted 11 points in the loss.

The Owls trailed by as many as 18 points, but got it to just three at 65-62 with 7:23 to play thanks to a Kat Wright's triple. However, a 12-2 run thereafter would put the host 49ers in the driver's seat for good.
Wright dropped a career high 33 points for the contest, including an 11-of-18 showing from downtown. The 11 makes established a new FAU record, and tied the all-time Conference USA mark as well.
Ali Gorrell posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards, and Melinda Meyers wasn't far away with 10 points and nine grabs.
Charlotte used their size to achieve a 46-22 advantage in the paint. Florida Atlantic dished out 18 assists, which was 3.9 above their season average.

Sasha Cedeno scored 16 points, and Melinda Myers added a career high 15 as the Owls dropped a league contest to the Blue Raiders tonight at FAU Arena.
Florida Atlantic (11-10, 3-7 C-USA), who enjoyed a 37-9 advantage in bench scoring has now lost 7-of-8.
Middle Tennessee shot 59% from the floor and 64% from long range.

Despite 12 three-pointers, the Florida Atlantic University women’s basketball team narrowly missed a comeback victory against UAB, falling to the Conference USA foe 67-62 on Saturday.
The Owls (11-11, 3-8 C-USA) saw Morgan Robinson pave the way with 18 points, including a career-high six three-pointers while Ali Gorrell hit double-digits for the 12th consecutive game with 12 points and five assists. Sophomore Melinda Myers again led FAU on the boards with eight rebounds and nine points.
Six of FAU’s first seven baskets came from beyond the arc as the Owls built up a lead at the 3:12 mark of 17-9. UAB (11-11, 4-7 C-USA) cut the lead to three on a free throw before the Owls scored to end the quarter up 22-17.
The Blazers opened the second on a 10-0 run to take a five-point lead and led by as many as six before the Owls stormed back with a 7-0 run to retake the advantage. UAB’s Bianca Dufelmeier made a layup with 48 seconds left to send the Blazers into the locker room up 35-34.
UAB held FAU without a basket for the first 4:20 of the second half and went on a 17-3 run as Robinson made the only basket of the first 7:29 of the frame for FAU. UAB’s Chelsee Black made a three at the 3:18 mark to give the Blazers a game-high lead of 13 at 50-37.
A 19-8 run by the Owls cut the advantage to two with 5:03 to play before a Dufelmeier three increased the lead back to five with 3:41 on the clock. A three-point play by Gorrell capped of a 6-2 run to pull within one with two minutes to play, but UAB converted two free throws with 16 seconds to play and made a layup with four seconds remaining to ice the contest.
The Owls go on the road to face UTSA on Thursday, Feb. 11 in San Antonio, Texas - SID Brandon Goodwin.

Owls lose a heart breaker, as the Roadrunners nail a three pointer with just under three seconds to play.
Ali Gorrell tied for a game 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting, and Sasha Cedeno pitched in 18 points (6-9) and five rebounds.
FAU (11-12, 3-9) moves into 13th place in C-USA standings with the loss, ahead of only Florida International.

Thirty three points off turnovers - which were fueled by 14 steals - led UTEP (21-2, 12-1) to a 75-47 rout of the Owls on Saturday.
“I thought we were good in our half-court defense when we weren’t chasing people after turnovers,” FAU Head Coach Kellie Lewis-Jay said. “We got a little scared with the basketball and it just went downhill from there.”
Not helping matters was a 4-of-23 (17%) showing from long distance by Florida Atlantic.
The Miners earned the season sweep over FAU (11-13, 3-10), having also defeated them 78-66 in Boca Raton back on January 21st.
Kat Wright was the Owls' leading scorer with 15 points, and Morgan Robinson joined her in double figures with 10 points.
The team will play host for a pair of league games this upcoming week against Rice and North Texas before finishing out play on the road for thier three final contests.

Florida Atlantic held a narrow 19-18 lead after the first quarter of play, but could not keep place with Rice thereafter.
The visiting Owls (6-18, 5-8) posted a 49.2% showing form the floor and enjoyed a 40-22 edge in scoring in the paint.
Ali Gorrell (5 RB), Sasha Cedeno, and Nika Zyryanova each had 10 points for FAU (11-14, 3-11), who has dropped 11 of their last 12 contests.

Five Owls were ion double figures at Florida Atlantic snapped a seven game losing streak on Saturday with a 71-61 victory over North Texas.
Ali Gorrell posted 15 points along side six rebounds to pave the way, and Sasha Cedeno wasn't far behind with 14 points and seven grabs as well.
Unlike recent outings, the team shot 39% from three point range, and narrowly missed matching the mean Green on the backboards.
FAU will conclude the 2015-16 regular season with three straight road contests, beginning with FIU next Saturday at 2:00 PM.
