Notes
The Owls opened the season 4-0, including a pair of wins at No. 11 Mississippi State, moving Florida Atlantic into the national rankings this week as high as No. 18 by Collegiate Baseball. FAU went error-free in the field, outscoring their opponents 29-13.
Florida Atlantic posted back-to-back double-digit run games on Friday, beating South Dakota State, 11-5 and Mississippi State, 10-6. On Saturday, junior OF Billy Endris went 3-for-5 with a double and a two RBI to lead FAU to a 4-0 shutout of MSU.
Sophomore RHP Marc Stewart made his first start as an Owl tossed six innings of scoreless ball, giving up just two hits, one in the second and another in the sixth. He'll be back on the hill Sunday against the Blackbirds.
FAU batted .453 with two outs, driving in 18 two-out RBI and belted 40 hits over the first three games. FAU drew 22 walks and boasts a team on-base percentage of .416 with ten doubles and two home runs.
Coach John McCormack will rejoin the team after being sidelined due to a precautionary travel proscription.
LIU Brooklyn went 1-2 in the opening weekend on the road at Incarnate Word. The Blackbirds tallied five extra-base hits and stole nine bases, scoring 16 runs over three games.
The Blackbirds were tabbed 5th in the Northeast Athletic Conference 2016 preseason coaches poll, and return eight returning starters in the field, five starting pitchers and 19 total letter winners from last year's squad that finished 16-35 overall, and 9-15 in Northeast Conference play.
I’ve never before been excited about a 1st pitch as I am to see @Kevin_abraham24 do so @FAU_Baseball Friday night.

Because we're Florida Atlantic, we're not.
That's the kind of ridiculousness that makes it difficult to stay interested in college sports.

If Florida was unranked and convincingly beat the #11 team they'd be ranked in Top 25.
