Notes
The Owls took two of three against Rutgers this past weekend (9-8, 4-5, 3-2) in a gritty series where each contest was decided by just a single run. This is in contrast to the season collectively, where the squad has out-scored opponents 107-50, or four runs per game.
Junior Sean Labsan (pictured above) went .389 at the plate with two home runs and a double for four RBI and three runs scored. Labsan was also the winning pitcher on Tuesday, in a game where his solo home run earned himself the victory. He struck out seven in his three innings on the hill, giving up just one hit.
With normal Friday night starter David McKay struggling with his control as of late, skipper John McCormack is shuffling the rotation against the Blue Raiders, and moving Brandon Rhodes into the opening slot. Marc Stewart will take his place on Saturday and Labsan will get the call on the hill Sunday. Usually a midweek option, the crafty junior has been slowly building his pitch count since coming back from injury and looks primed to make an impact although his time will be limited to about 60 pitches.
To date, all of FAU's regular starters have scored at least nine runs and each have at least two extra-base hits. The Owls boast a team on-base percentage of .405 and are batting .313 with 33 doubles, six triples and nine home runs, while slugging .455.
Junior RHP Cameron Ragsdale earned three saves last week, dealing three shutout innings with four strikeouts and just one hit allowed to bring his season total to five saves.
The Blueraiders dropped a 9-4 midweek home tilt to Belmont on Tuesday night. Middle Tennessee (10-7) gave up six runs to the Bruins before getting through two full innings, making a comeback attempt a tall task early on.
Last weekend MTSU took 2-3 from Kennesaw State. Head Coach Jim McGuire collected his 100th win at Middle Tennessee in the team's 9-3 win in the Friday opener. Junior OF Brad Jarreau has three-straight multi-hit games and hit .571 in the series, including the game-winning home run in the finale.
Jarreau needed only a double for the cycle Sunday, going 4-for-5 with a triple and home run in the Blue Raiders' series-clinching, extra-inning win. MT improved to 4-0 in extra-inning games this season with that 8-6 win in 10 innings. Senior RHP Garrett Ring lowered his ERA to 0.60 with no runs allowed in two appearances during the weekend, including three innings of one-hit, shutout relief with four strikeouts on Sunday.

Hopefully weather doesn't factor in. Saturday and Sunday looking like it's going to be in the 50's for highs. For south Floridians that's going to feel like 20 degrees lol.Posted On: Mar 17th 2016, 6:23 PM #355260
Upper 40's on Sunday…with 40% chance of rain on top of that all game long.
