FAU softball clinched the Conference USA regular season title by sweeping a doubleheader with WKU on Saturday, marking the Owls' first conference title since joining the league.

The team won game one 16-1 in five innings and game two 8-3 to improve to 43-7 on the year and 18-2 in C-USA play.

Kylee Hanson's four inning two-hitter set up her 23rd win of the season in game one, while FAU set season highs for runs scored (16) and RBIs (13).  Emily Lochten stole a base to claim sole possession of second place in FAU history, with 52 for her career. Melissa Martinez went 3-of-4 with 6 RBI at the plate to lead the offense.

Martinez continued her hot streak by netting a 3-for-3, 2 RBI showing in game two and moved into 2nd place in the program's all-time RBI mark with 130 for her career.

“It’s absolutely amazing, it’s so hard to even try and put it into words", said Martinez of the Owls' championship showing on the day.

Florida Atlantic will go for their fifth 2016 C-USA series sweep tomorrow at 1:00 PM.

I can't believe they are not top 15 with their record AND the VERY close loss AT top 5 Oregon, those ladies up there can HIT! Still getting little respect, hope they play with a HUGE chip on their shoulders through the conference tourney AND national tourney!
