UM raising it's bar?

Post

Here is a story of a 3* decommiting form the Canes;

http://www.stateoftheu.com/2016/5/10/11654150/miami-hurricanes-recruiting-ahman-ross-decommits-attrition-good-needed-ballers-on-deck

For their sake I hope the writers and posters (posers) are right, UM will not improve and even compete for a ACC Division crown until they do raise their sights and get higher rated commits and STOP competing with FAU for commits as they have done the past two recruiting seasons.

Again, if they are cutting loose some of their 3* commits, our Coaches need to get after them and sigh them here - we do this and we will be passing Marshall on the field way sooner than later!

You can look at this two ways, and I agree with your point. But to be realistic most of the highest level teams are comprised of about 30-35% 3* recruits.

Overall, it seems that we are both recruiting and gaining interest in much better quality prospects overall, and some are fringe players that would still make the cut at a higher level program.

On a side note, one of our current pledges was on record saying that if Miami offered he would be interested. And he's 3*. Oh well, here we go again - for year three!

Well I hope he reads the article and see's the U apparently does not value 3*'s anymore under Coach R!

Stay here and start and star! Don't be the small fish in the big pond where they are looking down on you.

Will likely take some time to change that, IF they are successful - it ain't what it used to be down there by any means. As it stands now, for 2017 they have ten 3* and four 4*.

Agreed Rick, agreed. The U is not the U of old and too much competition now with newer in state (FAU, FIU, USF, UCF) that did not even exist in the U's days PLUS ALL OF THE OUT-OF-STATE recruiting competition now!

Exactly Georgia. Not to mention that for the past decade or so, the highest rated players in South FL have been going out of state for the most part ie Notre Dame, Alabama, Ohio State, Michigan, etc.

What would also help in this situation, is adding a continuing series with Miami to our OOC schedule. like maybe every other year. Have those kids with a chip on their shoulders play against the team that spurned them.

This is true - only one of the top 5 players in the Florida  committed to an in-state school this year:

2016 Top Florida Football Recruits

In-state schools are basically pulling fewer than half the top-ranked recruits. And they're not even going to traditional powerhouses - Shea Patterson went to Ole Miss.

This leaves mostly three-star guys for the roughly 8 in-state schools to compete for.

We can't do that because FIU says they are their rival.  😆😆😆😆

GO OWLS!
