New Initiative by FAU Athletics.

Post

I think this is a great initiative by the department. Giving back to the community. Wonder how businesses can get involved.

The Florida Atlantic University Athletics Department has formally launched a ticket campaign aimed at providing South Florida’s community heroes and youth with free admission to FAU home games. The ticket campaign provides local businesses and individuals the opportunity to purchase discounted tickets to any of FAU’s ticketed home contests (football, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, volleyball, men’s basketball, women’s basketball, baseball and softball). The purchased tickets will then be donated to first responders, military and our area youth.

FAU Athletics has a history of honoring its local heroes at games by providing discounted admission to these individuals, as well as their guests. This program simply takes it a step further by encouraging local businesses and individuals to provide these heroes with a day of family fun, free of charge. In conjunction with the rollout of this program, FAU Athletics announces that Southeast Toyota Distributors, a subsidiary of JM Family Enterprises, is the first company to purchase a community heroes pack. Your South Florida Toyota dealers have partnered with FAU Athletics to provide 1,000 tickets to these deserving individuals.

“It is important for us to thank our military and first responders for the amazing sacrifices they make every day, and to continue supporting the youth of our community,” said Kim Bentley, Assistant Vice President of Corporate Philanthropy, JM Family Enterprises. “This program provides a fun and family-oriented way for these individuals to get out there, celebrate the great community where we live and work and cheer on our hometown Owls.”

The ticket campaign has a great deal of flexibility, allowing purchasers to earmark their donation for a particular heroes’ group and to one sport or to mix and match heroes and sports. The Southeast Toyota partnership will allocate 100 youth tickets to each of FAU Athletics’ eight ticketed sports (800 tickets) and 100 tickets each to first responders and military personnel at the corresponding theme day at this year’s home football games.

“We are blessed to have an abundance of local heroes in South Florida,” said FAU Vice President and Director of Athletics Pat Chun. “This initiative will give our business leaders and local citizens the opportunity to thank those who make a difference in our community. This is also an opportunity to expose area youth to a college campus and school spirit at its finest. We are thankful to Southeast Toyota for making the initial donation to kick-start our campaign.”

Tickets for the campaign cost anywhere from $1 to $5 depending on the selected sporting event. If you would like more information about our Community Heroes Campaign, you may contact the FAU Athletics Ticket Office at 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
