The line opened at -1.5 for the Owls, then immediately swung to +3.

Until we prove ourselves offensively that is to be expected.

Lines swing like that when people who like this kind of info see something and they jump all over it. Basically, when people saw that BSU was getting points, everyone took it. Not a show of confidence from the wise guys.

Can we stop making our offensive players run the length of the field at the end of quarter?  What purpose does that serve other than to tire out the line men even more.  I have seen it done in pop warner before.  Coaches have these kids operating like a pop warner team.

Notables from Coach Partridge's Ball State Presser on Monday morning:

Opening Remarks

"Ball State is our current focus. To give you a little bit about them. They are multiple in offense. They have a 6-6 quarterback [Riley Neal] with a strong arm and multiple weapons to distribute the ball to. On Saturday, three guys had six catches. They play multiple running backs [who] can run the ball and make people miss. On defense, [they have] an extremely aggressive style with a blitzing package. They had 14 TFLs, on Saturday, 12 different players and eight sacks. That is our focus. That is our challenge. They also attack on special teams. They come after kicks to block them. They blocked one against Indiana. They blocked a punt against them. Again, this week’s mission is about two things: Our improvement and getting ready for Ball State. It is really that simple."

Offensive Line Shuffling

"It is a challenge. A phrase that we use around here is no matter how hard it is to climb a mountain, the mountain does not care. Nobody cares, as far as those kind of challenges. With all due respect, to even respond to that is kinda going against what we preach around here: We have to put our best five on the field. We will put them in the best possible position we can, to lead the challenges of course."

Partridge also said that both Roman Fernandez and Kelly Parfitt continue to be evaluated.

I am a bit nervous about Saturday…this could get ugly.

Teambeer is the most knowledgeable FAU sports fan I know, way smarter than me.

Here's Ball State's Mike Neu's FAU Presser:

“They’ve had two tough games the last two weeks … This is a good football team. This is a talented team, skill-wise … I know they are looking forward to erasing what just happened to them this past weekend against Kansas State. We’re going to get their best effort.”

Stat to note:

The Cardinal defense has 14 sacks through three games, nearly matching their entire 2015 total of 17.
