2018 FAU Softball Schedule

FAU Softball (21-19, 9-5) split a doubleheader with rival Florida International on Saturday in Conference USA play.

The Panthers won game one 6-1, and Florida Atlantic defeated FIU 1-0 in 10 innings in the second.

Game one was scoreless in the bottom of the third when the Panthers scored three runs on four hits and an error. FIU doubled their lead to 6-0 in the bottom of the fifth, helped by back-to-back homeruns. In the top of the seventh, Emily Lochten hit a homerun over the fence in right for FAU’s only run of the game.

Both teams had several chances to get on the scoreboard in game two, as the Owls had multiple baserunners on four times, while FIU left more than one runner on five times.

But in the top of the 10th, Samantha Lageyre singled to short, stole second and then came around to score on Tatum Buckley’s RBI single to put the Owls on the board for the winning run.

The Panthers got the tying run to third in the bottom of the 10th, but a grounder ended the game.

FAU will look for the the series win tommorow at 1:00 PM.

A four run sixth inning was the key in FAU softball's 5-1 loss to FIU on Sunday. The Owls are now 21-20 on the season and 9-6 in Conference USA play.

Emily Lochten led off the third inning with a double down the line in left, moved over to third on a Madisyn Palmer sacrifice bunt, then scored on a Tatum Buckley sac fly to put FAU up 1-0. The Panthers tied the game on a wild pitch in the bottom of the fourth. FIU scored four runs on five hits in the bottom of the sixth to take the lead. The Owls were retired in order to end the game.

The Owls return to Boca Raton for a doubleheader against Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday, April 11. First pitch is set for 5:00 PM.

The softball team split a pair of extra-inning games in a doubleheader with Florida Gulf Coast on Wednesday. FAU grabbed the win in the first game on a 5-4 walkoff single from Madisyn Palmer and dropped the second game to the Eagles 4-1.

FAU is now 22-21 on the season and have seen 13 etxra inning contests. The Owls take the field again on Tuesday, April 17 at UCF in Orlando and at Middle Tennessee for a three-game set beginning on Saturday, April 21.

A two-run sixth inning by UCF gave the Knights a 2-1 win over Florida Atlantic softball on Wednesday night.

Madisyn Palmer walked, stole second and eventually scored on a Mia Olson groundout to put FAU up 1-0 in the top of the first.

The lead held up until the bottom of the sixth when UCF scored two runs on three hits.

The Owls (22-22) loaded the bases with one out in the top of the seventh, but the Knights turned a double play to end the game.

FAU will next travel to Middle Tennessee for a three-game set against the Blue Raiders, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 21. First pitch is set for 3:00 PM.

The softball team scored three runs in their final at-bat to secure a split in Saturday’s doubleheader against Middle Tennessee. The Owls lost game one 6-1, but won the second 4-3.

Amanda Peck led the FAU (23-23, 10-7) offense with four hits and two runs scored on the day.

The Blue Raiders broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the third in game one with three runs and adedd another the fourth. Peck scored on a Samantha Lageyre sacrifice fly to get the Owls on the board in the top of the fifth. MTSU pushed two more across in the bottom of the fifth to account for the final score.

Middle Tennessee again broke a scoreless affair in game two, this time the bottom of the fifth, and scored two runs on a base hit and double steal to take a 2-0 lead.

Jolie Duffner’s RBI single in the top of the sixth drove in Madisyn Palmer and cut the Owls’ deficit in half.

The Blue Raiders reestablished their lead in the bottom of the sixth on a solo homerun.

Trailing 3-1 and down to their final two outs after a leadoff grounder, the Owls began their comeback.

Kaitlyn Burke singled to left, followed by Peck beating out an infield single. Emily Lochten drew a walk to load the bases, bringing Palmer to the plate. She reached on a fielder’s choice that scored Burke and an errant throw by the MT second baseman allowed Peck to score and tie the game.

After Palmer stole second, Samantha Lageyre drove in her second run of day and gave FAU their first lead of the day with a base hit to center.

Tatum Buckley (complete game seven-hitter) pitched a perfect seventh inning to complete the rally.  

The Owls and Blue Raiders are scheduled to meet for a series deciding game three at 1:00 PM, weather permitting.

Sunday’s rubber match of the three-game series between the Florida Atlantic University softball team and Middle Tennessee has been cancelled due to heavy rain in the Murfreesboro area.

FAU will host WKU in a three-game Conference USA series starting with a doubleheader on Saturday, April 28, at 4:00 PM. Saturday will be Senior Night and the Owls will recognize their seniors before the first game.

FAU softball team broke out of its recent offensive slump with a pair of impressive offensive displays, defeating WKU 10-7 and 13-12 to sweep a doubleheader on Saturday. It was Senior Day at FAU Softball Stadium and the Owls recognized their seniors before the first game.

“Senior Day is always emotional and I felt like we let those emotions get the best of us for most of the day. Luckily, we made enough plays to win both games", said Coach Joan Joyce. 

The Owls will seek the series sweep of WKU today at 1:00 PM.

The Florida Atlantic University softball team wrapped up its home schedule with a 6-1 win over WKU on Sunday. The win completed a series sweep of the Hilltoppers. FAU is now 26-23 overall and 13-7 in Conference USA competition.

Florida Atlantic’s Emily Lochten drove three multi-hit games and slugged five doubles this weekend en route to earning her season’s first Conference USA Player of the Week award.

Lochten powered a trio of multi-hit games in her final home outings of her career. The C-USA Preseason Player of the Year slugged 1.167 with .750 batting (9-for-12) and .786 on-base percentages to lift Florida Atlantic to a sweep of WKU.

In the series opener on Saturday, Lochten went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, two RBI and a double. She followed that performance with a 3-for-4 showing in the nightcap of the doubleheader, this time with two doubles, three runs, two RBI and three stolen bases. She continued that momentum with another pair of doubles on Sunday, adding a pair of runs and an RBI. Defensively, she recorded six putouts in three starts at shortstop.
