Agreed! They will battle and share until Conference play like last year. Take care of the ball, adjust and the line and HIT the open receivers on time. And we DO have a very strong group coming in here this summer - LOTS of depth and challangers for jobs! Competition is a good thing!

Can somebody -anybody- kick a field goal?

I saw Vlad Rivas (RS FR) practice a few FG… strong leg… very impressed.

He made a FG from the 50 yard line, with a lot to spare.

How strong is that leg on kickoffs? Me, I love a touchback forcing a 75 yard drive every time - no short field (or worse) on long returns.

Don't forget about the rule change that allows any fair catch to be brought to the spot (if past the 25 yard line) or to the 25 (if inside the 25).  So unless somebody botches the handle on a kick, the worst field position will be the 25.  There is no need to have a specialist that can angle and kick a ball down to inside the 10 - might as well just get a guy with a booming leg and kick it out of the endzone every time.  All "pooch kicks" are going to be fair caught from now on.

Or with somebody like Lane who will gamble, get a really good on-side specialist and try that a couple of times a game  :Big-Grin:

It's amazing to me how much FAU now resembles Bama - Really strong defense that the offense is always catching up to. This is also really interesting considering that we hired Kiff because he's an offensive guy. So we know that we're going to get going on O, and can count on the D to keep us at least within striking distance.

And THAT make the O that much better for when they DON'T play a very good D - they can dominate them like last year!
