A Sunshine State Showdown leads off this week’s action in Conference USA Football as Florida Atlantic (2-1) visits No. 16 UCF (2-0) Friday night in a matchup of defending conference champions and the two winningest programs in the state of Florida from last season.
One conference game is on Saturday’s slate, as Rice visits Southern Miss. The Owls are in the middle of a three-game road trip that spans more than 8,000 miles, while the Golden Eagles will be playing their third straight game at The Rock in Hattiesburg.
A pair of ACC schools will visit C-USA schools, with both games being featured on CBS Sports Network. No. 10 Virginia Tech plays at Old Dominion followed by NC State at Marshall. The third matchup against the ACC takes place in Miami Gardens, Florida, where cross-town rivals FIU and (20) Miami meet Saturday afternoon.
Louisiana Tech will take its 2-0 record south to battle No. 6 LSU in Baton Rouge for the first time since 2009. The Tigers have defeated two top 10 teams in three weeks this season.
A pair of Texas schools hosts regional rivals Saturday evening, as UTSA welcomes Texas State to the Alamodome and UTEP meets longtime foe New Mexico State at the Sun Bowl.
Rounding out the action is Charlotte (2-1) making the trip north to face Massachusetts (the Minutemen’s second straight game against C-USA), WKU going to MAC foe Ball State and (RV) North Texas becoming the second league school to visit Liberty this season.

They are going to cover against the Canes it looks like with a good 4th quarter and have things they can build on. I wouldn't sleep on them.

I know – but fought and made it respectable. They have something to build on, unlike us when we went to OU. They also actually caused at least one TO I saw. Their problem was they couldn't move the ball in the first half. Their special teams and D are good. They have a suspect O it seems but there is talent there.DeltAlumnus said
