Nine games are on the schedule this week in Conference USA Football, including five nighttime league matchups in the first big Saturday of conference play.
North Texas, off to a 4-0 start and receiving votes in the polls, will welcome Louisiana Tech to Apogee Stadium in Denton. Mean Green junior QB Mason Fine is off to a fantastic start to the season and he will be going against one of the league’s highest-regarded defenders in Bulldogs senior DE Jaylon Ferguson.
Florida Atlantic will motor into Middle Tennessee with record-setting junior RB Devin Singletary staging his offensive prowess against Blue Raiders graduate QB Brent Stockstill, who has re-written the MT passing record book.
Three other exciting conference games are on the week five schedule. UAB will look to avenge last year’s loss to Charlotte and UTEP and UTSA renew their blossoming in-state rivalry, while East Division rivals Marshall and WKU meet up in Bowling Green.
Afternoon non-conference games are on the docket against foes from the SEC, ACC and American Athletic Conferences. Southern Miss will visit No. 10 Auburn, Rice travels to Wake Forest and Old Dominion, fresh off last week’s big upset of No. 10 Virginia Tech, makes the short drive down to East Carolina.
SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 29

Rice at Wake Forest (ACC RSN) 3:30 pm

Others of note from vegasinsider.com:
FAU -3 over MTSU
UNT -7.5 over La Tech
Marshall -6.5 over Western Kentucky
East Carolina -7 over Old Dominion (Vegas must not be impressed)
Wake Forest -26.5 over Rice
Auburn -27 over Southern Miss
UTSA -10 over UTEP
UAB -17 over Charlotte
Kind of surprised at how close the UNT spread is, and ECU over ODU (ECU lost to an FCS team earlier). Honestly - surprised at the UCF spread, too. Pitt just lost to UNC, and the Tarholes are not a good football team at all.
