Hey FAU fans! I’m not sure how many of you know my dad, BMarkey, but he shoots the football, basketball, and sometimes other sports for the Owls Nest here. Two home games ago I ended up needing to fill in for him as he was in the hospital for heart issues. Yesterday (Monday) he had open heart surgery at Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center. He had an aortic valve replacement (something he had done about 13 years ago as well), and an aortic aneurysm replacement. He wanted me to let you all know surgery went well, and now he’s on his lengthy road to recovery! He’ll be here in the hospital for at least a week, and then it’ll be at least several weeks of home recovery. So you won’t see him shooting any games for a while. But he will certainly be cheering on the Owls (and of course his alma mater Troy) no matter what. 😃 Thank you all for your support!

Oh and funny FAU connection…one of his pre-surgery nurses was Daniel Parr’s mother. I even ran into her today again! Small world!
