I think we simply undervalued some players on the oline, QB and WR, had 5 new coaches, the schedule was tougher, and we could not kick.
I think Lane will figure it out.
As for big picture conference stuff stop worrying because we are not going anywhere soon for so many reason in our control and out of our control.
Just play your schedule win some games and enjoy tailgating and going to games.

I'm a firm believer that the sky is the limit as far as moving up conferences. We have the best location in the country in my opinion. All we need is just to get to that darn AAC. Then the playoff will expand and it won't be crazy to think that one day we can be in the playoff conversation if everything goes right one year. I do think eventually we could maybe get into the P5. But that would be after a lengthy run in the AAC. As far as on the field, there's no distance you can run and be safe from horribly inadequate offensive line play. There are players that you just don't take on that we did. Losing Taleni and Nagel ruined our DL. I believe that the locker room was out of control, with players believing every newsclipping written about them. All I read in interviews was "now I'm going to show the world what I can do", and "I'm not the player they thought I was at my previous stop", instead of, "I'm glad to help the team out". That's all fine and dandy if you have the O Line and D line we had in 2017, but when you have me first guys that stink anyways, you're going to find yourself in a rut.Posted On: Dec 5th 2018, 9:47 PM #384002
We not going AAC or P5 anytime soon and I mean decades.
Lets go over the reasons why.
First what we can control
We play in a high school basketball arena, we get in about 12k-15k but in the seats for football games and have around from what I have heard under 500 memebers of the OSF club.
College football attendance is dropping everywhere ( even the blue bloods are having trouble some weekends) while we are trying to grow and it's becoming a really uphill battle.
Now reasons we can not control.
The TV bubble has popped and there is nothing we can do. In 2012 when everyone was running around trying to grab mebers everyone was under the assumtion that if they brought team ''XYZ'' with thier market TV money would increase.
Well that did not happen. C-USA grabbed FIU and FAU for thier TV markets and C-USA TV deal shrunk a great deal after 2017. We were basically worthless to C-USA and it's money. We play games on facebook with 2-3k people streaming it.
Schools like Cincy and UCF who both have large fan bases great markets and history can not even get into the big 12 becuase schools like Texas and OU do not want to share.
Think of it this way if you have BBQ and you bought 10lbs of steak and that is all you have to share why would you invite the guys who brings chips and dip if that means you have to split your steak two ways more?
Each Big 10 schools gets 51 million in TV revenue yearly ….yea Rutgers gets almost twice FAU's entire athletic budget from TV alone. I mean let that sink in. You think OSU and Michigan like sharing that money with them?
Since schools like that can not even get an invite we are not going to AAC and lets say we do get an invite to the AAC it's becuase they lost some top schools which means we will be going to a watered down version anyways.
Now UCF is brining a lot of attention to how unfair the system is, so if they expand the playoff that might bring some more vaule to the lowers leauges, but I do not know.
The P5 Cartel has too much power and has 0.0 inrest in letting the little guys grow and start taking thier share of the pie.

Aside: Rutgers and Maryland do not get the same money the other B10 schools do, which is another reason why moving up is not all it’s perked up to be. I just wish more of our games were on ESPN.
Mac games get on tv, lots of them.Posted On: Dec 6th 2018, 10:48 AM #384010
