With this weeks early signing period looming, the Owls may have just had their biggest weekend of the of the year. Lane Kiffin and his staff are obviously pushing much harder this year to ink more future Owls in this period in comparison to last year.
As reported by multiple sources, and announced by the prospects, the Owls added five names to their commit list this weekend.
NewCommits
- Kelvin Dean RB- The 3 star and now former Temple commit had new head Coach Manny Diaz at his high school recently, but It was not enough to keep him on board after a trip to Boca.
- Eddie Williams OLB- FAU picks up another highly rated 3 star LB in Dade County.
- Adrian Bryant WR(JUCO)- For the third straight year Lane adds a JUCO WR. JUCO WR's have combined for 30 catches and only 366 yards in two years under Lane.
- Joe Lewis LB- The Tampa Bay Tech LB has flown under everyone's radar, but was major priority FAU as they went in home twice in just a few weeks span.
- Caliph Brice LB(JUCO)- The East Hutchison C.C LB who visited last weekend announced his pledge to the Owls on twitter today.
Names to Watch
- Ricardo Watson LB- The Armwood LB was on campus this weekend and now holds an offer form the Owls
- Jake Larson K- The Kicker from Virginia visited last weekend, but it is unknown if the Owls have made an offer.
- Ryan Fitzgerald K- The highly recruited kicker out of Georgia has landed an offer with Owls and is looking to make down to Boca in January.
- this will be a tough get for the Owls as FSU, GT, and other P5 schools have line up visits before the second signing period.

Fitzgerald looks fantastic - offer a full scholly Coaches, great leg (strong and accurate) and used to pressure in important State playoff games!Posted On: Dec 17th 2018, 4:12 PM #384259
Landon Scheer was a ranked kicker and never kicked one ball at FAU.
No one knows how kickers will turn out. Especially out high school when they can kick off a flat tee for FG's.
Rivas could go work on a couple small mechanics over the summer and be great next year.
It's like golf you can not work on your swing after two bad rounds or a few bad tournaments you have to step back and work on it in the offseason.

I hope Rivas DOES work hard and get better but his accuracy was shaky even on short FG attempts and just bad on long (40+).
I would still bring in a better option (at punter too!!!) with more potential and a bigger leg. Our "touchback" numbers were just awful this year unless that was a planned effort. As a team we had only 5 touchbacks on 72 kickoffs (7%!). You should prefer an option to kick it though the end zone and guarantee the opponent starting at the 25 and having 75 yards to go to score and avoid a potential big return. Then if you WANT to try and pin 'em deep with good coverage you can do that as well, if ya want to, not because ya have to.
And punting was even worse! Riella only a 38 yd. average with only 7 inside the 20 out of 38 (18%). Robison (QB!) was 6 for 6 in that category with a 55 yard average to boot (pun intended! ). Our opponents had 21 of 61 of (34%) punts inside the 20. We lost several games at least partially due to having serious field position disadvantage issues.

He has done well but he does get the advantage of punting out of regular O formation as if we are going for it so no returner and gets the roll but still EFFECTIVE! But then, why ever show punt formation if this works (joking).
